Acne

Pimples — but not always acne

There are several causes of facial pimples. Some people have classic acne. Others have rosacea in a form that causes papules and pustules and can easily be mistaken for acne. And some have perioral dermatitis, where the pimples form a band around the mouth and the skin flakes.

It’s worth knowing this before you buy anything — because these three conditions don’t all tolerate the same things.

The products here are the same ones we offer for rosacea and perioral dermatitis. Sulfur and zinc have been used to treat pimples for decades, and these formulas are made for skin that reacts to a lot of things. And yet most acne skincare is designed to dry out and scrub the skin — exactly what reactive skin can’t tolerate.

Who is it best suited for?

  • You, if you have pimples on skin that is also red, sensitive, or easily irritated
  • You, if you’ve been told it could be rosacea or perioral dermatitis
  • You, if you’ve tried drying acne treatments and they made things worse

And when is it not suitable?

If you have acne alone, without redness or sensitivity, it’s not our core area. Our store is focused on rosacea and perioral dermatitis, and that’s where our experience lies. If you’re unsure what you have, ask us — or your doctor.
